MMC Board of Directors Visit Pengerang Co-generation Plant (PCP) Project

On 4 April 2017, MMC Board of Directors visited MMC Engineering Services Sdn Bhd’s (MMCES) ongoing project at the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) in Pengerang, Johor.
The delegation, led by YBhg Tan Sri Dato' Shamsul Azhar Abbas, Chairman of MMC Group visited the project site to see the latest progress on the Pengerang Cogeneration Plant (PCP) Project. 
 
Upon arrival on the project site, the delegation was given a site tour of PCP by Ir. Chee Weng Loon, Director Engineering & Construction of MMC Corporation Berhad, En Mohd Abdul Fatah, Chief Executive Officer of MMCES and En Mohamed Khairuddin, Project Manager of PCP and was then brought to MMCES site office for a briefing on MMCES scope of works within the PCP Project, its progress status and key issues.
 
The delegation was then warmly welcomed for an engagement session with the Owner of the facility, PETRONAS and Siemens AG, MMCES’ Consortium Partner in the project. PETRONAS senior management was led by Dr. Colin Wong Hee Huing, Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of PETRONAS Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation Sdn Bhd (PRPC), whereas Mr Bart Korink, CEO Siemens Energy Solutions represented Siemens AG and Mr. Prakash Chandran, President & Chief Executive Officer represented Siemens Malaysia Sdn Bhd. The delegation was thereupon presented with a briefing and video presentation of the PCP plant as well as the overall PIC.
 
The PCP will have four co-generation units, with the first unit anticipated to start commercially operational by 3rd Quarter 2017. The Plant is expected to be in full operation by 2nd Quarter 2018 to supply power by generating 1,220 megawatts of electricity as well as provide reliable and continuous supply of steam up to 1,480 tonnes per hour for plants within the complex. PCP will be one of the biggest co-generation power plants in the region, using Siemens’ latest H-class gas turbine technology together with a unique dual steam turbine configuration to ensure highest efficiency.
